Sermons or not?

Let's be real

Some things aren't that easy. Sermons are wonderful things to have on websites. They can be featured all over the place - YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts. If your church has the tech skills (and time) to have them then it's great to consider it.

But you do need a certain level of tech skills.

For video you'll need

  • Video Recording (the right gear, people to set up the recording)
  • Video Editing (to start and end the video in the right place)
  • Post the video onto YouTube

For audio you'll need:

  • Audio Recording equipment e.g. can you record a feed from a mixing desk?
  • Audio Editing (to start and end the recording in the right place)
  • Audio Post Production (you might skip this, but it's good to get the levels right on the recording and even better to reduce background noise)
  • Post the audio to a podcast distributor

In summary

Audio is easier than Video. Video is great if you have the skills. But if you don't have the equipment and volunteers to do either then it's better not to have sermons on the website!
